The Gildenburgh Choir

Peterborough's mixed voice choir singing a wide range of music

The Gildenburgh Choir draws its members, women, men and young people, from Peterborough and the surrounding area, and is open to anyone with a love of singing. One of our major strengths is the wide range of different types of music that we sing, from major classical choral works through to modern pop songs.

If you are interested in trying out, or joining us, you can contact our Membership Secretary, Jenny Sheldrake, on 07904 308035 or just come along to a rehearsal. These are held every Monday (during term time) from 7.30 - 9.30 pm at St Andrew's Church Hall, Ledbury Road, Netherton, Peterborough PE3 9RF.

If after attending 3 to 5 rehearsals you would like to become a permanent member then fees are currently £40 per term (£120 pa)

We are currently recruiting all parts, Sopranos, Altos, Basses and Tenors. In particular we are looking for 1st Sopranos, Altos and Basses. We would also like to introduce younger singers into the choir who may currently sing with other groups or just fancy having a go.

We occasionally travel away to perform. In October 2011 we spent a weekend at the Morritt Hotel at Greta Bridge, near Barnard Castle, County Durham and performed at the hotel and the nearby Bowes Museum. We visited the Isle of Man in 2017 to perform two concerts, one with some local IOM choirs, and have a look round the island. In April 2018 we sang at a NAC concert in Norwich Cathedral with 3 other choirs following the NAC annual conference.
